It’s almost a cliche to claim that a good decision must be backed by hard data. But in the day-to-day life of a coach, who regularly copes with “50 different people telling me 50 different things in the span of 5 minutes”, it becomes near impossible for even a professional to get all their data in a format that is useful and worth their time.
At the same time, there’s a negative tendency to reduce an athlete down to just a few metrics sporadically without seeing the whole person.
On the horizon there looms the idea of an AI super brain that a coach can crunch all the information instantly to produce and share insights instantaneously.
So we at CrewLAB set out to create an easy-to-digest, always-available snapshot of each Athlete, to improve the quality of conversations between a Coach and an Athlete.
The focusing question was:
How might we present all of the information a coach could need in one place (stats, training metrics, well-being, coaching notes, attendance, fatigue, engagement and more) without becoming overwhelming?
We started out by interviewing several coaches to understand how they currently store and use athlete information in their day-to-day, including where they wish they could, but are stuck. Some major themes came up
A large body of work and improvements are inbound, but recently we took the first step with a refresh of our Athlete Profiles. Let me tell you about why this matters.
The updated Profiles are lightning-fast to load and aggregate all of the information that CrewLAB automatically collects for an athlete and coach. It stitches together all of the Tools in the software to make them all more useful.
We aspire to become the source of truth for all team information so that coaches and athletes can stop effortfully maintaining other records. Let us do the work for you.
For the athletes, we expect this to help them understand themselves better, see progression, and hold them accountable to higher quality training prescribed by the coach.
Take a look in your app and share with us what you think! Feedback fuels this whole company.
We’ll continue to invest in upgrades to how you manage your team's information and the Tools you use to lead your team. Expect changes to the Roster, Workouts, Calendar, and more.
More than that, we will start to proactive serve athletes and coaches insights that will help them stay on track to get the work done to improve or rest when it is appropriate.
Thanks,
